Bankruptcy Resources and Helpful Information
Here are some links to other websites you might find helpful before and during the bankruptcy process.
Pre-Bankruptcy Credit Counseling
Before your bankruptcy case can be filed, you must complete a credit counseling course. Most of my clients complete this course online, and it will require approximately 45-60 minutes of your time. You will find a document that explains credit counseling in greater detail, and step-by-step instructions, under the “Getting Started” tab on this website. Although many agencies have been accredited to offer the credit counseling course, and you are free to use any of them, most of my clients prefer the online services of Cricket Debt Counseling.

Post-Bankruptcy Debtor Education (Financial Management)
Within ninety days after your bankruptcy case has been filed, you must complete a two hour debtor education course that will assist you in better financial management going forward. You must complete this course before you will be eligible for discharge. You will find a document that explains debtor education in greater detail, and step-by-step instructions, under the “Getting Started” tab on this website. Although many agencies have been accredited to offer the debtor education course, and you are free to use any of them, most of my clients prefer the online services of Solid Start.
